It would not be necessary to generate such a loud gunfire combustion or recoil of the 30.06 for just a 200 yard shot.  A 6mm Remington cartridge or a .243 Winchester round generate less muzzle blast and recoil, very accurate and are extremely flat shooting, virtually no drop at 200 yards with velocities far exceeding 3,000 feet per second.   These 'varmint rounds' can pretty completely destruct upon impact with some of the more frangible jacketed bullets, so there is not a resulting bullet to examine for striations. The extractor systems of more modern firearms like the Remington 700 rifle are much preferred for bench rest shooting where maximum out-of-the-box accuracy is desired.  Gun barrels are generally shorter than the Mauser, also.  It is curious that they claimed a Mauser was used in The JFK Assassination ( a Mannlicher-Carcano was said to be Oswald's weapon but the first rifle that was shown for evidence was a Mauser) and they go back to it here as if to villify old, formerly mail order, guns.  Incidentally, an actual professional sniper does not engrave his bullets with various crap, Nazi or otherwise.  A sniper would prefer that all of his rounds are immaculate and uniform, the same. So, as of now this Infoeditor is not buying the current narrative in the Charlie Kirk murder.  This could very well be another PARALLEL SHOOTING operation.  It is probable that the 30.06 hunting cartridge was designated in the shooting because many sportsmen use it for hunting and since it is so popular the gun grabbers are targeting gun owners.....again.
